While cleaning out the MakeShop closet I stumbled upon several large plastic and cardboard tubes. Apparently these simple objects were enough to inspire some real creativity from two girls. It was funny, I our Executive Director, Jane, actually asked the two what they were planning on doing with the tubes? They immediately told her that they were going to build something that would allow a wooden ball to travel along. They had all the materials they needed and asked me to help them start with the construction of the project. A pure physics project. They were experimenting while building and building while experimenting. Our goal was to land the ball in an empty silk screen ink jar from the Studio. Of course, we had to modify our original design several times. We even tried using balls of different weights and size. We eventually constructed a contraption that allowed us to reach our goal…Great fun.
