Saturday: Play by the Fire

On Saturday, September 13, MAKESHOP will be participating in an awesome event at Pittsburgh Glass Center called Play by the Fire from 6:00-9:00pm. Teens are invited to work with local arts organizations to try something new and connect with other young creative people and artists. There will be music to dance to provided by Kelly Strayhorn Theater, Swag Monkeys and Tracksploitation. We’re excited to try pizza being made in the furnaces, along with s’mores — and much more!

MAKESHOP will be working with large-scale stop-motion animation. You can move objects (and yourself!) to create a short stop-motion animation by creating and using handmade props to build a simple set. Work with an overhead camera to tell a story frame-by-frame.

Tickets are free! Please register ahead of time at Pittsburgh Glass Center’s website. We hope to see you there!

I create things with my hands- from hand-sewn projects and embroideries to re-purposing vintage buttons into jewelry. I love figuring out how things work, how to make things, and sharing that knowledge. When I'm not in MAKESHOP, you can find me exploring parks in Pittsburgh, making jewelry or creating ridiculous cakes.
